The new hangar was designed to meet the needs of Air Inuit. With a surface area of over 500 m2, it accommodates the company’s service vehicles and maintenance equipment. The ground floor also has a large cold room and a freezer room to store certain foodstuffs in transit. The second floor has a small apartment for an employee.

The hangar structure is mostly made of wood, including the roof that is made of large trusses. The project was carried out on the edge of the airport deck of the second northernmost airport in Quebec, the village of Salluit. It required the integration of certain structural design details to account for the extreme northern conditions.

For this project, NCK provided complete structural engineering consulting services.
