This CEN (Centre d’études nordiques of Université Laval) research station is located in Kangiqsualujjuaq and can accommodate researchers residing in this Nunavik village. It is called “Sukuijarvik”, which means “Science Square” in Inuktitut. The fields covered by the researchers are, among others, environmental sciences, geophysics, caribou ecology, biology, oceanography and climate change.

The station, with an area of 150 m2, is made up of a wood and steel structure, resting on steel piles. These piles raise the building above ground level to avoid heat transfer with the permafrost.

For this northern project, NCK provided all the structural engineering consulting services.
