Increased air traffic and international flights led to the expansion of the international finger pier, including six new boarding gates to accommodate large aircraft such as the Boeing 787 and the Airbus A380, a commercial area, and a VIP lounge. The client wanted to create a bright boarding area to provide travellers with a unique and memorable experience. The project was completed in a short time, in ultra-accelerated mode.

The construction is concrete except for the roof structure, which is steel. Given the low soil capacity at this location for a building of this size, it is supported by a network of piles and caissons. Numerous load transfers were also planned. Moreover, the organisation of spaces in an airport context, taking into account restricted areas and the maintenance of operations, was an additional challenge during construction.

For this major project in ultra-accelerated mode, NCK provided, as part of a joint venture, the structural consulting engineering services, mainly for the concrete structure.
