Increased air traffic and security concerns prompted ADM to build a new terminal for all flights to the United States. It is a building of some 110,700 m², including the terminal building, an underground train station, an elevated drop-off lane, three levels of underground parking for 480 vehicles, and a new state-of-the-art automated baggage hall.

Some very complex technical challenges were met in the structure, including the 22-metre span structure in the transborder registration area, despite the presence of a 10-storey hotel above. Numerous load transfers were planned. Moreover, the organisation of spaces in an airport context, taking into account public and restricted areas, was an additional challenge.

For this major project involving one of the main gateways to Quebec, NCK provided, as part of a joint venture, all structural engineering consulting services.
