L’Ilôt Balmoral, located in the heart of Montréal’s Quartier des spectacles, has thirteen floors, six of which are occupied by the new headquarters of the Office national du film (ONF). It also includes underground parking for 186 vehicles and 70 bicycles.
The building is characterized by two distinct volumes, positioned on either side of a huge “breach”, highlighted by its bright red colour. This opening enables light to penetrate to the depths of the building and to illuminate the walkways linking each floor. On the ground floor, the two modules are connected by an atrium and a large hall and façades are made of glass curtain walls offering an exceptional view of the Place des Festivals and the downtown area.
LEED Certification candidate, the building features sustainable elements such as a green roof with terrace, eco-responsible workspaces, energy efficient measures, etc.
For this signature project, NCK provided the complete structural engineering consulting services. The project was entirely carried out according to the BIM process using the REVIT software program.
